convertible top motor

I have a 1992 Chrysler Lebaron convertable. My problem is the motor for the top. On occasion, the motor will quit working. Sometimes I can get it working by having someone tap on the motor whil I press the up/down button. Any ideas on why and how to repair.
Also, while I was unplugging the wires to it, I broke off one of the prongs that it pluggs into. Can that be soldered back together?
Thanx for any help you can give me.

well sounds like its due for a new motor as per the connector if there is wiring on each side of the connector im sure it could be bypassed by soldering or installing a universal connector.
