Can I use tire sealant again?

About 8 months ago, I had a slow leak in a tire. I was happy to find that a can of fix-a-flat stopped the leak and has held all this time, until now.
My tire guy says he won't patch it because the sealant was used and it supposedly eats away the rubber. So am I in danger if I keep this tire? Can I safely try another can of sealant and hope it hlds for another 8 months, or should I definately just get a new tire?

Thanks for your advice!

J.

My question was, "Is this safe?" Not "Should I take my chances?" Needless to say I'll be getting that new tire soon judging by your answer.
thanks again,

Yeah you'll want to replace it
The tire guy wasn't just handing you a line
That fix-a-flat's really only good for emergencies
And then only as a last resort
If it's not the same tire guy, don't forget to warn them it's in there when you get a new one

It wasn't safe the first time you used it, for you or the person repairing or replacing the tire.

Some of those fix a flats contain propane..one spark while repairing could be a disaster.
