F250 ball joints

I have a 1990 F250 Supercab Longbed 4x4 w/ 7.3 dsl. I need to replace all of the ball joints. I have called around to price this and they all come in close to $800. Definately NOT an option. I have worked on cars before and have an air compressor and tools and am confident I can do it. My question is this; Will I need any special tools, such as hydraulic presses or anything? There has to be a good reason for such an exorbitant sum, right?
Also, if anyone knows any tricks to help, I would be indebted. Thanks guys.
