99 Isuzu Trooper lifters

Can anyone tell me how to get my lifters out? I think it's my lifter that is making the ticking noise in my engine so I opened the head up and can't get the lifters out. It's an overhead cam engine with roller lifters. I ordered a Michell's On Demand manual but it doesn't tell me specifically how to get them out. I'm a girl that needs to read step by step instructions but I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars. Can anyone help me! Thanks!

You have to remove the camshaft first prior to remove the lifters/tappets. Keep the camshaft caps in order or you will having a "fun" time.

There's selective shim on each of lifter/tappet, do not mix them up.

lifter removal

I did remove the camshaft and the cap of the lifter but I can't get it out. Is there a special way to do it. I pulled on it but not too much because I don't know what it's connected to. I don't want to break it but the pictures look like it just sits in the bore. Is there a special tool?

You can try by pull them up with a big/strong magnetic in rotation motion, they are just sit there and nothing holding them back.

Selective shim = valve clearance.
