'00 Dodge Stratus main tranny seal
I had the tranny and oil pan gaskets/seals changed since both were leaking. The oil pan is still leaking, but just at the rear of the pan instead of all around and the tranny still shows a leak, not around the pan, but between that and the oil pan on the lower lip of the side that faces the engine.
I was told it might be the main seal between the tranny and the engine. Input?
There is only 38k on the car. It is the 2.4L 4 cyl.

I know Dodge's had some problem with the clamps on the ATF Cooler lines. That was what it ended up being on my wifes '02 Neon w/4 Speed Auto.
Was still under warranty at that point so I had the dealer check it. You may also want to also check around the TCM (Transmission Control Modual). That was what the Dealer said was the leak the first time I had them check/repair it, The second time they said there was a TSB (Technicial Service Bulletin) for the clamps. [I]Don't know why they didn't check them the first time. [/I ]
Seepage from either the TCM or the cooler lines can run down along crevices and collect on the trany pan. I've seen both before on other MOPAR's. Since it's mostly seepage it's hard to see the trail, but doesn't take much time for it to collect into drip from the pan After the clamps where replaced, the Neon hasn't had any more leaks. You may want to check those items first before condemning the Ft transmission Seal.

The tranny pan is fine. It's the vertical edge of the tranny where it faces the engine. The lower lip is where the fluid is coming from.
Also, the center rear of the oil pan is still leaking. It doesn't appear to be coming from above the seal though.
Where is this TCM?

On the '02 neon 4sp auto the TCM if mounted on the front of the transaxal, kinda near the base if the dipstick tube, not sure if the '00 Dodge Stratus even uses the same transaxle. Any seepage from cooler lines or other componants could be hard to see the trail but collect on any low point of the trany. Just thought I'd throught out a few ideas since no one else was replying to your post. Hard to do diagnostics through cyberspace.

I understand. I wish this forum would allow posting pics as that would make it easier.
BTW, the TCM is on top next to the fuse block.
