lock up torque converter

I have a 1991 Lumina sedan (3.1) with the three speed auto transmission. Occasionally, when coming to a stop the car will stall. It will start right up but then stall when put in gear. I'm guessing the torque converter is staying in the lock mode. Is there a solenoid I can disconnect, or do I have to replace the converter?

Better late than never. Just got a chance to disconnect it and it works like a charm. Thanks.
