87 mustang vibrates in reverse

Just had the trans rebuild on 87 Mustang 4 cylinder with overdrive. Runs fine except when I put it in reverse and keep my foot on the brake it vibrates and slows down the engine rpm. Vibration stops when releasing the brake and going backwards. Any suggestions would be help before I return to the dealer. Thanks!!!

I would suggest checking the fluid level to see whether it has been overfilled following the rebuild. Overfilling could cause this kind of symptom.

Since only the torque converter and the oil pump are turning anytime the car is in gear with the brake pedal depressed it is possible that something is sticking inside the valve body (like the regulator valve) and causing the line pressure to be very high in reverse. This could cause a higher than normal load on the engine and cause the rpm's to go down.

The most likely cause is improper installation of a mount , crossmember, or exhaust.
