96 Astro van, alternator

Friends car needs an alternator in his van and it seems buried, anyone here do an alternator on one of these. Is it just a staightforward job or is there any tricks to this. Thanks

I changed one last night in a 1991 van. They are a pain to do. Not much room and there is a brace on the back of the alternator that is a bear to get at, and almost impossible to get a wrench in. But it is do-able if you have patience, a stubby ratchet and don't mind getting your arm all chewed up by all of the inhabitants that GM stuffed in that small space. My arms looked like they had been placed in a cage full of hungry squirrels by the time I was done. Good luck and enjoy!
