electrical problem I think on 1990 chevy truck

My 1990 chevy silverado drove fine than i shut it off, went to restart it and
nothing. like the battery was dead, Its not.
found a wire hot to the touch at the junction box.
what do I do

Which wire is it? look in your manuel in your glove box if you have it. it should list whats what on the fuse junction box. If you don't have that then you need to get a diagram of the junction box so you can see what wire it is thats getting hot (to see if that wire even has anything to do with the starting system.

Question

there is a plastic cover with connection titles over different wires.
mounted on the fire wall where I found this wire.
the hot wire is under "junction box"
others are "ground","starter relay",etc. etc.
is it possible the starter is locked up

jump it

Make sure vehicle is in park or nuteral with brake set and jump the starter to see if it cranks over. The big post were the cable connects jumped over to the sol wire (small purple wire) if starter is bad it will not do anything. take it off and get it checked for free at parts house.

Get the battery load tested at a parts store and make sure the battery posts and cable terminals are clean.
