Carb Repair 101 - Do I need any special tools to adjust the float??? Float Gauge?

I have a simple single brl carb in a ford f-100 with a 6cyl. I'm going to attempt to adjust the float. I've read the directions a hundred times, so I'm ready to give it a try.

Do I need any special tools? Do I need a Float Gauge?

Is there a way to do this without having one? Any tips?

Thanks.......................

the float adjustment(s)...

...are pretty important. a guage is necessary but most carb kits come with a cheap cardboard one. you can also use a machinist's ruler...a small pocket ruler with a sliding scale.
