2000 s10 transmission

i lost 4th gear, i began tranny fluid, i probably overfilled than lost 3rd, after truck sat 3rd came back but 1st started to took extend time for first gear to engage, appeard that fluid was comin from around the shifter casing housing. replacement of the casing housing simple project, its on a 4.3 v6 2000 s10

Was the fluid level low in the first place. If you overfilled it you will need to drain the excess fluid. Overfilling can cause problems. If the fluid was not low the lack of 4th could be due to other reasons. Overfilling can also cause the fluid to leak through the vents and also through the seals and o-rings. I would suggest making sure the fluid level is correct before changing seals and gaskets.
