Exclamation 89 Chevy truck odometer

Hello and thanks in advance for any help!
I have an 89 Chevy truck with a V6 4.3L 262 Z engine, with automatic transmission. My son and I are fixing this truck up for his driving pleasure, but I have stumbled upon a problem, that I am not sure as to how to go about fixing. The Speedometer reads about 10mph faster than the actual speed,, i.e. when doing 50 mph, the speedo reads 60mph, also the odometer is not updating, it is stuck at 87,000 miles, any suggestions out there????

They sell adapters for the speedo cable for 4X4's to gear the speedo up. They may sell some that gear it down. As far as the odometer goes you will probably have to take it apart to see if you can fix it...or replace it.

Check that you don't have different size tires on the truck, different gear ratios. My 89' odo stopped working a year after i bought the truck new. Wasn't worth the aggravation of tearing into the dash for me.
