Break related or Bearing problem?
Hi Everyone, 1995 Dodge ram van 3500, 5.9, automatic, 96K miles.
I installed new rotors and new ceramic break pads. New outer bearings, well packed. Inspected spindle and inner bearing and all seems well.
On left turns when the weight is on the front right wheel, I begin to hear a dull clunk that keeps rythm with each revolution of the wheel. When I apply the break, the sound goes away. This only happens at slow speeds. sometimes it even happens when going straight ahead at slow speeds (10-15mph). I was convinced of a breaking problem so I removed the caliper, inspected all the rotor and bearings again, tightened the bearing just right and still I get the clunk noise. Can the wheel fall off? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. BTW, I just received my safety inspection and the tech said that my ball joints are fine. Thanks so much.
