Exclamation A/C Drains my battry how do i fix it

iv egot a 1980's Jetta and now when i turn my car on and after certain

amount of time my battery is completely drained. I heard im suppose to take

out the A/C or shut it completely off which i dont know how to do. Is that

true or is there something else that i can do to fix this battery wasting

problem.

You need to have your charging system checked; sounds like your alternator may be belly up.

Agree with towguy. Alternative is not doing its full job, and that is when the battery has to pick up the load. Take the alternator to a auto supply, most will bench test it for free.

While your at it, take your battery in too for a free check. It may be on its last legs after being discharged repeated for who knows how many weeks.

To turn off the a/c, just use the dash board controls, nothing special required.
