Violent Steering Wheel Shake

I drive a 1997 15 passenger Ford Van with 72k miles. Applying the brakes from a highway speed of 45 mph or above to bring the van to a stop creates a violent steering wheel shake. Applying the brakes to slow the vehicle down either from a slower 25-30 mph or scruffing off some speed at higher speeds does not produce any steering wheel shake at all.
Where should I start looking for the problem?

Thanks,

Doug

Most likely, you have warped front brake rotors...common problem. You'll probably need new brake rotors unless yours can be grinded down to be smooth and unwarped and still not be too thin to be safe, which is possible. Go ahead and do a complete front brake job, pads and all.

Yep, definately brake related. Warped rotors is number one cause.
