Mazda 626 shakes

I just bought a 1993 mazda 626 LX for just general cheap transportation...real cheap..well....

It shakes like crazy at highway speeds! Its a 4 cyl. with automatic transmission
Dosent do it under say 55 mph, and only when your applying the gas. Let off the gas and its smooth, no shake or vibration, steering tight no shimmy, but then apply a little gas, even as suttle as the cruise applying gas to maintain speed, and it starts to shake HARD. In town it does great...get it up to speed on the highway is the only time it happens? Weird Huh?

Any Ideas? Motor Mounts? Transmission?
Thanks!

I just drove it again and it could be in the front end somewhere, starts at about 60 and steadily gets rougher through 80 then lessens a bit

Sounds like a bad tie rod end, or possibly a tire. Check the front end and while it is up rotate the tires to see if it goes away -- be sure to torque the wheels properly. In either case, you should get on it immediately . . .

Problem solved.....
It was a bad (loose/worn out) drive cv axle on the drivers side.
Replaced with new drive cv axle...smooth as silk!
