suggest taking to a shop and having vehicle scanned to determine if coolant temp sensor is reading the correct temperature and if ecm is turning on the fan relay at the appropiate temperature usually around 230 degrees.
you could try a new sensor as it sounds like it may be the problem but it is a guess at best you should see a shop and pay for diagnossis before spending to much in parts by trying to repair an overheating problem wich could not even be a fan related problem as some mechanical problems could cause overheating before the ecm would ever see a warm enough temperature to turn on the fan relay.
