radio ok, but not working, '96 dodge 1500

I've got a 1996 dodge 1500 pickup. I thought the radio went out, but got another one that works, but not in my truck. I've checked the fuse and it's fine. All the connections fit, I can't even get the thing to power up. I have red, black, and yellow wires that are twisted together and go to nothing that I can find. I thought they may have at one point gone to a amp, cd or some other add on. I really would appreciate anyone with any ideas to help me.
thanks

Check to see if there is an inline fuse on the red wire that goes to the radio that might be blown.
