oxygen sensor for 98 tracker

After calling my local parts store and more than $274 for a oem replacement and $81 for a universal replacement. What is the differance for $ 193. Don't they serve the same pupose. Is one designed to last longer. Also I'm wondering how to tell in what price range that I should shop in with all the differant pricing that can be found on the internet.

Thanks

It's an interesting point you raise. I can tell you can most independent shops install a generic (Bosch is one big brand) o2 sensor. I have never heard of a complaint from the generic sensors. I recommend them to friends when they seek my advice for repairs.

In my opinion, the difference is not justifiable.
