96 Chevy Astro van AWD torsion bar

The right side torsion bar appears to be broken. Wondering how big of a job to replace? Does the crossmember that it mounts in(toward the rear of the bar) need to be removed to get it off? Was hoping to find a used one. Read they they have come out with a new version, in which both bars should be replaced. But just trying to help my ex get back on the road without investing too much.
Thanks for any help. rp

Cool ok, so it wasn't a very popular question

Figured it out the old fashioned way. But in case it helps someone out in the future, It will pound out toward the rear of vehicle, once the tension is off. And since this one was broken, that wasn't a problem. You can thread a pipe through the front end to get at the front of the torsion bar to tap/beat it backwards. To get the new one to line up in the tensioner bracket, I used a pipe wrench and hydraulic jack. (cause I was working on the driveway with this thing jacked up and blocked) rp
