Question 2001 Gmc 2500

I have a 2001 GMC 2500 with a 6.0 engine and a 4:10 rear with positive traction. If I change to a 3:96 rear how will this effect my pulling power and gas milage. I pull a 30 ft. travel trailer that is a lite weight model and the truck pulls it real easy at this time. What do you think
Thanks Dick

well obviously it would hurt your pulling power and while it could possibly increase your gas mileage slightly it probably wouldn't affect it when towing.
if you are just considering it for increased gas mileage it is probably not worth doing in my opinion.
