Speedometer WAY off!!!

Question Speedometer WAY off!!!

when we are going thru the neighborhood, my speedometer reads 55 or 60, and i KNOW i am maybe doing 30. any way to adjust it?

You'll want to post the vehicle make/model/year and auto or manual transmission, and if the speedo's readout is digital (numbers) or analog (needle)

Wink Here is the information:

it is a 1990 chevy corsica 3.1 liter v6 auto trans with analog speedometer

..do you also have the stock size tires/wheels on it??
Bigger wheels and/or tires will throw the speedo out!

As far as I know, you have to go to the dealer to have that one adjusted
I just can't think of why it would be so off

You might want to time a measured mile on the highway to figure out exactly how off it is

When did this problem start? Did you just buy the car?

Has the dash cluster been replaced from a twin model?
Has the tranny been replaced?

Also, 60 mph = 37 kph. Is your speedometer labeled mph or kph?
