how to use a jumper wire to read codes on 94 aerostar

could somebody tell me howto read codes with jumper wire no spark at coil thought maybe i could try and read code

You'll need a code reader, or go to a place that will read it for you. In America there's a place called AutoZone which will read the codes for you for free. Some other places charge a small fee for reading the code. If you post the numbers they give you here, or buy a book or something, you can determine what they mean.

You won't get any codes unless the "check engine" light is on.

Actually, being a '94 this vehicle may be just EEC-IV and not yet OBD-II
Pre-OBD-II, EEC-IV's codes can be pulled with a voltmeter, even a jumper wire, and can store lots of trouble code in memory w/o lighting the CEL
Also the KOER test may show codes w/o throwing the CEL

SLEDGEHAMMER, do you know if this vehicle is OBD-II?
If you found the diagnostic hook-up, where was it and what does it look like?
