rad sensor

I have a 96 Grand Am GT 3.1L V6
FWD and I want to know where the sensor is located at for the radiator fan.
The temperature gauge on dash is not overheating but on the high side.

it doesn't have a separate...

...switch for fan control. the computer monitors engine temp thru it's own sensor, located near the water outlet at the back of the intake manifold. when the temp gets hight enough, around 230 degrees F, the computer will ground the relay which in turn will make the fan(s) run. the temp sending unit for the guage is in the left cyl head near the front of the engine.

above 220 on the guage when the fan comes on is normal...

An actual temp reading might be in order before changing switches
Or a testing of the gauge
OEM temp gauges are not known for their accuracy
