Basically, service ports are before and after compressor. The thicker tubing connected to the compressor is the suction, low pressure. And the thinner is high pressure. The port on the thicker tubing is low pressure. I don't know exactly where it is located.

the problem is..........I found a place where the fitting will fit but in order to get to it, you have to disconnect an electrical component which just so happens to control the a/c on and off. I am wondering if the low side is located under the dash?

On my brother's 1993 Dakota the low side port is basically right at the compressor.

I can't imagine why they'd make you have to unhook the clutch wire to get to the port.

actually, its a pressurized a/c switch. I am not sure how to convert the r-12 to the r134 system with this switch . Because you have to disconnect in order to hook up conversion fitting, and a/c wont run with it off

if you are retroffiting to r134a you have to install r134a adapters on your original low and high side fittings you cannot hook up a r134a guage set to an r12 system without installing the adpters first, suggest you see a shop if you wish to have it done correctly.

Yes, I understand about the retro-kit. I purchased the kit with fittings to convert it over to 134. The problem is that this vehicle is equipped with an a/c control pressure switch, and the switch has to be removed in order to install the fitting to low port. Therefore With the a/c switch off, the a/c compressor will not work. I am not sure how to get around this as anyone else is either.

is the a/c system factory if so it shouldnt have a switch installed on the service port most chysler vehicles used an expansion valve and actually had the switch installed on the expansion valve if it has an expansion valve is there a switch on it or is there just a plug where one would of been located.
