siphon pump help
Hello,
I am currently using a water hose cutoff part on a siphon pump to remove excess gasoline and oil from gas containers, cars etc. Is this water hose exceptable for such an operation or should I buy a hose specifically made for gasoline. I understand that the water hose rubber softens and desentigrates with contact with gasoline etc but I don't use it for a gas line or anything like that. I was concerned that the water hose rubber might contaminate the gasoline or oil etc. Thanks for your professional help.

I think most "water" hoses these days are vinyl with a nylon reinforcement. I don't see a problem. You could occasionally check the hose for softening but should be okay.
I assume that your pump is made for the purpose. If it is not, you could pull a spark from metal or plastic (static charge ) and go BOOM.
