Leaky piston seal?

I would only guess you have a leaky forward clutch seal. When the car sits over a period of time (cold condition) the seals will contract allowing the fluid to seep past. When they get warmed up they will expand enough to seal the drum allowing the clutch piston to move therefore engaging the clutch pack inside the drum. Without putting a pressure gauge on this I can only speculate this is what is causing your problem.
