Front coil spring replacement

I bought new front struts and springs for my 2001 chevy cavalier. I had to reuse the old springs because the new ones would not compress enough to get them on the strut. I'm the original owner so I know the old springs are the OEM. The ones I bought are the same length, gauge and diameter, but have 6 coils instead of 5. Problem is the auto parts store insists the springs he sold me are the OEM ACDelco springs. Any comments are appreciated.

If they were factory a/c delco springs the amount of coils would be the same.Maybe the springs are for a different year or they are cargo coils.Maybe they are in the wrong box been there before.Does it say a/c delco on the box?

The box says AC Delco. It also has the PN on it. I checked the AC Delco WEB site and it's the correct PN. Perhpas, as you said, the wrong springs are in the box. Anyhow, thanks for your reply.
