1988 Camry fuel pump replacement

Would like to know how to replace fuel pump in 1988 Camry. This vehicle was driving down the road and all the sudden quite running. Trying to restart which only gave a spinning noise. All electrical seems to be working...just will not start. Have been told this is the fuel pump which is in the gas tank.

It must be tested with a fuel pressure guage and then if not working you must confirm voltage to the pump.

If needs to be changed the tank must come down

Need more troubleshooting. A broken timing belt, for example, will give the same symptoms.

If it is cranking funny not like it use to sound, TG is right about timing belt.

Uncommon for fuel pump to go

If it should turn out to be the fuel pump, some asian cars have an access panel under the rear seat..Romove the rear seat, unbolt the cover, and there's the fuel pump assy..Of course extra care not to get gas inside the car is needed..

On a '88 Camry there is a access panel but only for the fuel sender. It's not untill '92 that the pump has access without removing the tank.
