Blower problem

1998 Ranger. I have the problem of running the A/C and the air shifts from coming out of the panel vents and then switching to the defrost vents all by itself.

I take it that the problem is the switch in the panel? Also, how do the cover and panel get removed?

Thanks!!

Chuck

Blower

It sounds like a vacuum problem. I assume as you accelerate the air shifts and then comes back to the original area once you are up to speed.

If so, this is due to the vacuum dropping momentarily and the rising back to normal. There are most likely small vacuum hoses that connect to the system (switch, air ducts under the dash). I would suggest checking them for cracks and leaks.

It could also be a switch, but try the vacuum leak first.

Good Luck!

Thanks, but it does it at a full constant speed. I will check the hoses before I change the switch.

Thanks again!
