Sticky accelerator when cold

Sticky accelerator when cold

'95 Windstar has sticky accelerator when engines cold, how can I fix this?

First, you have to diagnose where it is sticking. Disconnect the cable from the throttle body and the cable from the pedal. Then check the action of each part. If the cable is sticking, perhaps lubing it may help. A lot of times the cable gets kinked, especially if any work was done underhood and the mechanic was rough on the parts. If you can't unkink it, it'll have to be replaced.

Whtever you do, get it fixed! This is a serious safety concern and continued driving in its present condition can result in a crash.

Definately get 'er checked out and fixed. It may also be excessive carbon build up in the throttle body, causing the throttle plate to hang up. Let us know what you find out.
