Cool Vibration in the steering wheel

I have a 1999 grand am. Steering wheel vibrates at 55-60 mph and up, but not constantly. It's like a rythm, every couple of seconds or so. Vibrate, stop vibrate, stop.

Once in a while when i turn, i hear what sounds like the power steering pump whine a little, but no fluid loss, and it workd fine.

I have fairly new tires, had all 4 rebalanced, didn't help. Any ideas?

Thanks

thanks

I'll get the tie rods checked right away. Are bushings something that is a safety issue too? or can I wait on those? Thanks again!!

the brushing are a rubber part that sits in the middle of the end of the tie rod and the part the tie rod hooks up to, if those are shot it could cause the rod to snap.

If its the pulsing like you say, check for wierd wear on your tires... a cupping pattern. Alot of times if you have been driving with under in flated tires or your front end is misaliged, it could cause an odd wear pattern. Just look for unusual wear on the front tires. When you have the front end checked out, have them do an alignment and balance the front wheels.
