Static noise from the speaker

97 Ford 150 Reg Cab Long Bed 50K miles.
It started a few months back. When caught my attention was after I turned off ignition key, the speaker became staticky with noise. This morning the battery was drained that it barely cranked the motor (but couldn't start the engine). By the way, the pickup hasn't been driven for 2 weeks. (can a battery go empty in 2 weeks unless there is a drain?)

These static noises are when radio is off. Can I just remove the radio and will the problem disappear? Or the speakers? I don't use the radio and it doesn't bother me if the radio is functional or not. Thanks.

Removed the radio. Static noise is gone. I don't miss the radio, but a big gaping hole in the middle of the dashboard doesn't look right. I think I will buy a MP3 CD player to listen to my favorite book reading. I hope the static doesn't return. Thanks.

By the way, I also replaced the battery. I can't believer Ford F150 uses such a small battery (the smallest of all at WalMart). No wonder it went bad in about 3 years.

What Size Cranking Amps Is It? If The Noise Comes Back Then There A Problem In The Wiring Or A Speaker Is Bad

Battery chart recommends 540 CA and 450 CCA, the smallest of all WalMart batteries. I didn't like it at all. I put an oversized battery 850 CA 700 CCA.

If noise returns, now I know what to do next.
Thanks again.

Just wondering

Did you try to remove the radio fuse before removing the radio?
