Brake master cyclinder

1987 Mustang 4 cyclinder. Occassionally when at a stop, the brake pedal gets soft and moves down towards the floor. Fluid level is fine and has not changed and I can't find a leak at any of the wheel cyclinders. I'm suspecting the master cyclinder. Am I on the right track and is there any way to check the master? Thanks for your help.

Classic symptoms of a bad master cylinder - replace it.
