No Heat

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3 liter V-6. When the car is warmed up and the heater control is on high, the air is only slightly warm. The thermostat is new and the heater core seems to be OK as both hoses are hot. A mechanic told me that it was either a bad temp. control or blender (?). Where do I start to check this out?

The "blend" door is most likely the problem from what you have described. the blend door controls how much air passes through the heater core. If your truck has A/C, i think it's a vacuum controlled door. you could have a bad door motor. If you have plain old non A/C, it's a cable control. if you have automatic heating controls, it might be electric. either way, it's inside the heater box, and would most likely have to come out to repair.
