Car Door & Trunk - 1997 Lincoln Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Well my car door (passenger side), and trunk no longer opens.
I can:
and my door still won't open.. (same goes for trunk).
-
I was looking at how the door panel was made, and it doesn't look easy to get off.. I need some assistance in: getting the door panel off, and then from that point I can take a picture of what it looks like and hopefully someone will know what is wrong with it.

Thanks,
Mike
I can:
- Stick the key in AND turn it (the manual lock device goes up and down)
- type in the key-code to "unlock" it.. (manual unlock goes up and down)
- pull the inside and outside handle til the cows come home
and my door still won't open.. (same goes for trunk).

I have the same problem with my 91 Grand Marquis that never really went completely away. The problem could be with the electric lock motors. They often go bad. But even if they work, they offer resistance when unlocking manually via the small lever or using the door handle.

If you decide the lock motors need replacing:
These lock motors go for $125 each from the dealer, $95 if you talk them into a discount or buy from Ford on-line. Don't pay this... you can get new Chinese knock-offs for $30-40 delivered to your door from eBay or A1auto.com.
