Brakes need 2 presses to work well......

98 Frontier 2wd pickup, I get a soft pedal on an initial press, but if I back off and then press again, I get a good pedal on the 2nd press (applying same pressure, pushing pedal the same distance, etc).

Fluid level is OK. Plenty of pad left. Ive checked the rubber hoses as best I could, didnt see any bulging/cracking/dryrot.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Air

Sounds like air in system bleed it and inspect for leaks while you are at it.Sometimes you dont have time to pump brakes in a bad sitituation you need brake ASAP so I would get that fixed before it is to late and you crash.
