serpentine change

Bought a new serpentine belt for my 98 olds regency only to find that the job is much more difficult than my 1988. Looks like GM stuck a motor mount in the middle.

Any help on procedure to remove obstacle would be appreciated.

Thanks Tim

Thanks for your reply Michael

Does the mount come apart or should I remove it from the motor or frame?

Thanks again, Tim

If it's like the one I ran into on a Pontiac, if you look closely, it may be spacer type mount. Check for a bolt in the wheel well area. Remove the bolt and tap the spacer out. Reverse after you have replaced the belt.

Thanks for the info, this turned into a bigger job than anticipated considering my limited knowledge and equipment. In the past, all I needed was a socket and a long breaker bar.

Not sure if moter mount will come apart but will give it a try next week.
Thanks again, Tim
