2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited – Heater Malfunction

I have a 2002 Jeep GC Limited. My vehicle has dual independent climate control (one for the driver and one for the passenger). For no apparent reason, the heater has malfunctioned. The A/C system works fine for all vents. Regardless of temperature settings, when the heater is turned on, only the driver’s side vent and the 2 vents in the center panel area blows out hot air; the two passenger side a/c & heater vents are blowing cold air. I am wondering is this a major problem that I should take to the dealer to fix. I reviewed the owner’s manual and a Mopar Jeep manual. However, the books do not seem to address this issue.

I searched and located a Jan. 2005 post with the same problem; however, I did not determine the actual cause, remedies suggested (1 was given by the moderator I recall) and whether Dpatel resolved his 1999 Jeep GC heater problem.

Your thoughts as to the cause and possible remedies for my malfunctioning heater are greatly appreciated.

Chuck.

There are doors in the A/C / Heater box that direct the air where it needs to go. It sounds like you could have one of these doors malfunctioning. IT is definately something I would recommend taking to the dealer.
Good Luck,
Hope this helps ya,
Billy

electronic?

There is a way I am pretty sure to reset the doors.I saw it a few posts back for another car.I dont know how and if the same procedure is aviable for jeep.
I learn something everyday myself.
On the other car the computer resets the doors by pushing a sequance of buttons your Jeep might be the same way.
Do a google search and let us know if you find out.I would do it for you but I am off to work.

Jeep Heaer Solution!!!!!!

Hello,
I have developed a solution for the jeep grand cherokee heating problem. The usual problem involves the breaking of the blend doors. My solution is strong, easy to install, and it definitely beats paying the dealer $1800!! For more info please email me: DO NOT POST EMAIL ADDRESSES IN THE FORUMS. IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THE POSTER LEAVE IT IN THE FORUM OR SEND IT TO THEM IN A PM FORMAT. SOLICITATION IS AGAINST FORUM RULES!!!

Heater Solution 2002 Jeep??

Hi-
I have a 2002 JGC and the knob that switches air from recycle to feet to defrost etc doesnt work. Any air is stuck coming from windshield vent. Does anyone have a solution for this? It seems as though I should be able to remove knobs, cover panel and replace whatever used to "catch" to allow you to switch which vents to use.

Any help is greatly appreciated
