95 Probe Major oil problem. Engine no start.

If anybody out there could help me out and point me in the right direction to getting this thing repaired I would be much obliged.

When I recently purchased a 95 probe it was a bit smoky so I replaced the catalytic converter and the O2 sensors which fixed that problem. For the past few months it has been burning a lot of oil and leaking a bit as well. It has also been making a clicking sound when started out in lower gears. The other day the clicking turned into a grinding when I pulled off the freeway. I figured it has to be really low on oil so before I took off I put some oil in it until I could get it home. I got about 3 miles until it started with the grinding again when slowed me to a halt. When slowing down I let out the clutch a bit in a higher gear and it had a bad jerk and continued with the grinding (sounded like it was from the pistons.) We pulled off and walked to a gas station to get some oil. I put 3 quarts in and it all poured out the bottom. When I tried to start it just made a click like the battery is dead but I have had that tested since then and the batt is good. Now that it is home we put some more oil in it and it did not leak at all. I checked it and the oil is staying at 3/4 full. It will still not try to crank over. The oil appears as if it is coming from around the top of the oil pan or the oil cooler. Tomorrow I am going to clean the engine to better diagnose the oil leak but I can still not get the car to crank at all. All wiring should be good as well as the starter.

Thank you very much,

Ty Moser

sounds like you put a piston though your oil pan or block

I also think you need a new engine. If you are planning to keep the car a while, it's well worth it to put in a Jasper. I had one put in my Escort 4 years ago. Cost $4000, but worth it.

I have not seen any bumps or dents in the oil pan and when i was slowing down all my pistons were still moving. I think i am going to bring it to a mechanic today and have them check it out.
Thanks

Ok, so the engine is seized. I am now in search of a new engine. I have found some engines from Japan for around 500 bucks. They all have less than 50k on them. They are a V6 2.0L but compared to the 2.5 in it now they put out 170hp compared to my 165hp. This engine is supposed to fit perfectly. What do you think? Any suggestions on where I could find a motor for cheap?

Japan engines

I have heard about the low miles Japan engines the only thing I would worry about is emmisions,They dont have the same as we do and some of the engines might not have all the holes to bolt up USA emmisions equipment.
Something to think about.

Well, probably not a good idea but we pushed it and i dropped it into 2nd, 1st, and reverse and it skidded to a stop every time. It is leaking both anti freeze and oil.

That japan engine is suppossed to be a "Direct bolt up" to the probe.

its history

Sounds like the engine you now have is history .Check into the Japan engine I am sure they are good just not sure about all the accessories are compadable.Maybe you can ask them first.
I am sure the motor mounts bolt right up but what about if it has a EGR valve I dont know if one is required in Japan and if not then you wont have one either because the engine will not be machined for it.
