Swapping Alternators-Buick & Monte Carlo

I replaced the alternator in my monte carlo about 2 years ago and now the car is toast. The alternator in my buick just went out and I was wondering if it was possible to take the one from the monte carlo and put it in the buick. Are they compatible? Thanks!
