Alternator and Serpentine Belts?

I need to replace the alternator on an old Pontiac 6000. I've already decided to let a mechanic do the work but I was wondering about "other" work that could be done at the same time to reduce labor costs...ie. would it make sense to replace the serpentine belt at the same time (I was putting this off but maybe now is the time?)

Best Wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy New Year......

Richard

A good time to replace that belt would be now if it has a lot of miles on it I would. Also have him check the tensioner they go bad sometimes more on certian cars.
