Smile 97 Pontiac Rear Main Seal Leak

I have a 97 Pontic Firebird with a 3.8 liter V-6, automatic trans. My mechanic just told me it was a rear main seal leak, which he showed me under the car while it was on the lift. He says it will be 6.5 labor hours and the part is $20. It is a solid seal. They just recently replaced my valve cover gaskets on this car and I wonder if they might have done something related to the new leak. They say the valve covers aren't leaking. I would like to know if the labor hours sound correct on this job, because I know you have to remove the trans. to do it. I need a second opinion.

Thanks Fritoguy15

I don't know the labor hours, but it is labor intensive. Sounds like your mechanic is being honest with you.
