Thumbs down removing heater blower motor on 98 chevy silverado

I started my 1998 chevy silverado today and the heater switch wouldnt work/then smoke started rolling out from cowl by the hood/Can anyone tell me how to remove the heater blower motorto check it/The truck is a loaded 98 chevy siverado 4x4/I unhooked the battery asap and hope I wont find much damage

Very easy job. The blower motor is located under the dash, behind the glove box. You can see it if you look up from the pass side floor. It's pretty self explanitory. Once you get it out, spin it to feel for bearing seizure. You can also jump it to the battery if you want to.

But you stated the smoke was coming from the cowl area by the hood, the blower motor is inside the truck. You may have another proble there. Please give some more info.
