Question 96' cherokee 4.0

I have a 96' cherokee sport 4.0l. About a year back one or two of the freeze plugs came out. I have been told that I would have to take the engine out to fix this. All I know is that I have to take off the intake and exhaust manifolds to get to the plugs. If anybody could give me some insight into this I would really appreciate it thank you.

Depends on where specifically they are located. If they are fairly accessible one option is to replace them with the expanding rubber plug style of replacement plug. These are not as good as new brass ones, but will do the job and are often much preferable to removing an engine or transmission for access.
