95 GMC muffler

I have a 95 GMC Safari van that has a small hole where the tailpipe attaches to the muffler. Do you think this can be welded or is there anything that can be purchased at a local parts store to patch it, or do I need a new muffler?
Thanks!

You can weld it if the metal is thick. A new one is best

Concur and keep in mind one of the welder's ten commandments ; "You can't weld rust".
