simple oil change question

When draining the oil, is it better to open the oil fill cap on the top of the engine so the oil can flow more easily?, or does it not matter?

Thanks for any answers,

Dan

If you want to, technically it'll drain easier but I never notice any different, just heat the engine up to normal temp, that will helps it drain easier.

I agree - I have found warm oil makes more difference than anything else.

I remove the cap and the dipstick. It is a reminder that I need to put oil back in - just in case my old timers disease kicks in.

Good point

Makes sense. With my luck, I'd have a "senior" moment and try to drive to the store without any oil.
