CE codes

Is there any other way to grab CE codes besides using an OBD device or taking it to the shop? OBD II only works with 1996 and up so I cant use one and I'm having a hell of a time finding an OBD1 device to work with a 1994 vehicle. Thanks

A lot of OBD-1 stuff can be read by various methods involving shorting connectors and counting CEL flashes, etc. As 442 asks, "vehicle?".

Also might try Auto Zone; I know they'll read codes for free. Not sure if they can only do OBD-II or if they can do I & II.

Hi. Its for a 1994 Nissan Pickup truck with 4cyl 2.4L engine 2WD. Autozone says it uses OBD1, not OBDII. Not sure if they're correct.

The book says you can read codes off ecm it self by turning diagnostic mode selector on ecm fully clockwise.then check led light flashes for codes. (This is juist my opinion.)
