Question 1972 chevy truck c10

i'm converting my old points to electonic ignition is it ok to use a old distributor rather than a new one money is tight and i never had a shaft go bad thanks

Go for it. If it is a known good part, it will work just fine for you.

you can use a used one alot of people do just keep in mind it could have some bad components, pickup assmbly, ignition module, vacum advance,coil,cap and rotor some of which may need replaced also the mechanical advance may have excessive wear.
summit racing has them for a reasonable price that may be cheaper depending on how many parts that need replaced on the used one you get, you should check them out part number SUM-850001R

Go to scap yard and get 80s distribitor with coil on top plug in one wire to bat terinal and your off and running. (This is just my opinion.)

alot of vehicles in the mid 80's had esc with a 4 wire connector you really need to get into the 74 to 80 range and most salvage yards is not going to have anything that old laying around.

I pick up one off 84 olds for $30.00 and it works fine, Wrecker had lots kicking around.I live in CANADA.(This is just my opinion.)
