81 Chevy ptruck ignition replacement

I have pulled the steering wheel and components to get to the ignition switch. All instructions and pictures I have shows a screw or a spring device to release the old ignition switch. I see neither one of these. Is there a trick or a step I am missing? Thanks for any help.

There is a bolt securing the ignition cylinder in the housing. You need to pop out that plastic thing with the 2 brass contacts and the bolt will be under that. It is a torx head, a 25 I think, and it should be silver in color.

How far into the column are you at this point?

Are you looking for the SWITCH or the TUMBLER???
The SWITCH is at the base of the column and doesn't require removal of the wheel.
The TUMBLER is under the wheel....BUT ........you'll also have to remove the lock plate (You'll need a small compressor for that task) and the turn signal switch............then the key buzzer switch which is that little plastic thing..........Watch out for the spring that goes with it............THEN you'll see the bolt that secures the tumbler
